In the heart of Maputo, beneath the imposing chandeliers of the Hotel Polana, a celebration took place that was more than symbolic: it was a living portrait of the quiet transformation sweeping through the world of Communication, Marketing and Public Relations in Mozambique. Thirty women were honoured as the most influential in the sector, at the third edition of the Women in COMARP 2026 Workshop, an event guided by the motto “Breaking barriers, creating legacy”.
The distinction did not come about by chance. It results from a close look at the past year, in which these professionals stood out for the boldness of their projects, the innovation of their strategies and their ability to shape the country's communications ecosystem. In a constantly changing landscape, they were the ones who managed to impose ideas, redefine narratives and reposition brands, leaving a clear mark on the business and institutional fabric.
More than an award, the recognition carries strategic significance. It reflects the growing weight of women in organisations, where their involvement is no longer peripheral but central. They are decision-makers, creators of discourse and architects of reputation, influencing not only campaigns but also the way entire institutions present themselves to the world.
The selection process, revealed Vicente Sitoe, a member of the jury, was demanding and rigorous. Among around 200 applications, the criterion was not longevity in a career or popularity on social media, but the concrete impact of the initiatives presented. “We assessed real projects, with measurable results in the period under review,” he stressed, dismissing any superficial logic of notoriety.
From the analysis emerged a diverse and representative list: Patricia Aquarelli, Dayse Correia, Cristine Ramela, Jónia Presado, Laila Chilemba, Eunice Andrade, Açucena Paul, Elisa Ribeiro, Elsa Matula, Gina Matapisse, Cláudia Chirindza, Vanda Langa, Tânia Oliveira, Elsie Pereira, Joana Prista, Rosa Morcene, Soraia Abdula, Alima Carballedo, Kátia Issufo, Felícia Nhama, Stélia Neta, Cláudia Manjate, Cátia de Sousa, Marta Mário, Ângela Semedo, Assucena Nhatsumbo, Anisia Sambo, Mirza Jamal, Laís Pereira and Ana Zara Fateally.
Behind each name are stories of resilience and creativity, stories that help redefine the contours of a sector still marked by challenges of equity and access to leadership positions.
COMARP, as a platform for connection and professional growth, thus reinforces its role not only as a promoter of recognition, but as an active agent in valuing female talent. By creating spaces for visibility and sharing, it helps to consolidate a new generation of leaders, able to influence the present and shape the future.
This collective distinction does not close a cycle. On the contrary, it paves the way for a more inclusive and representative narrative, in which female talent ceases to be the exception and establishes itself as a structuring force in a sector in full evolution.
