Founded by three women from different backgrounds who share a common vision, ALTIVA aims to transform the way Mozambicans learn, connect and shape their futures. More than a training and consultancy platform, it is an initiative built on the belief that meaningful connections can turn potential into tangible results.
A good idea is not always enough to build a business. Talent, determination and knowledge are essential, but many opportunities are lost through a lack of guidance, contacts or access to the right people. It was precisely this realisation that gave rise to ALTIVA, a Mozambican initiative seeking to bring people, knowledge and opportunities for growth closer together. Behind the project are three women with different professional and personal experiences, united by the conviction that no one should have to navigate the path to success alone. Rosa Sofia Macondzo Massuco, a civil servant with a degree in Accounting and Auditing, drew on her own experiences to pursue a career as a financial coach. After more than a decade in employment, she recognised the importance of gaining a deeper understanding of personal finance and building wealth, knowledge she now seeks to share with others. Celma Neto brings an international perspective. Born in Angola, raised in Portugal and now living in Scotland, she has built a career in healthcare, specialising in Oncology Nutrition and holding a master's degree in Radiotherapy with Advanced Techniques. Her connection to Mozambique grew stronger through oncology projects, including work at Maputo Central Hospital. She is also an entrepreneur and property investor, with ventures in Portugal and the United Kingdom. Melina Mangoele, a Mozambican entrepreneur with a degree in Business Management, has experience in commercial management, administration, business development and project management. Her career has been shaped by a passion for connecting people, nurturing talent and turning ideas into initiatives that make a meaningful impact. Together, they decided to establish a platform where their skills complement one another and where individual growth can contribute to collective development.

More than learning: putting knowledge into practice
The name ALTIVA embodies the philosophy that guides the organisation: ambition, confidence and the determination to reach new heights. "We believe there is always another level to strive for and that no one reaches their full potential alone: education and the right connections are essential parts of the journey," the founders explain. In a market offering a wide range of consultancy and training services, ALTIVA aims to distinguish itself through the practical application of knowledge. Its purpose is not simply to share information, but to provide tools, guidance and connections that help participants achieve their goals. This approach underpins initiatives such as ALTIVA Talks and workshops, events designed around the needs of the community, featuring guests who share real-life experiences, challenges and lessons learnt. The organisation believes that bringing together people from different professional backgrounds can be just as valuable as the training content itself. "A single conversation can be a turning point. It can offer a fresh perspective, open a door or connect someone with a strategic partner."

The power of being at the right table
One of ALTIVA's key initiatives is The Right Table – A Mesa Certa, a concept designed to create spaces where people with different experiences, skills and opportunities can come together. The idea stems from a challenge familiar to many Mozambican entrepreneurs: finding trustworthy partners, appropriate guidance or support networks capable of helping turn a promising venture into a sustainable business is not always easy. For the founders, collaboration can help overcome some of these obstacles and contribute to a more dynamic economy, where businesses also grow through the relationships they build. ALTIVA therefore seeks to connect people who would not ordinarily move within the same professional circles, broadening access to knowledge and opportunities. Growth, however, also means accepting that not every attempt will produce the desired outcome. "We see failure as an outcome, not an identity or a judgement on someone's future," they maintain. From their perspective, making mistakes is part of the learning process. What matters is understanding what went wrong, adjusting the strategy and finding new ways forward.

Preparing a generation to go further
The future of young Mozambicans occupies an important place in ALTIVA's vision. The founders believe that, beyond technical skills, young people need to develop a mindset built on initiative, responsibility, confidence and adaptability. They also recognise the value of mentorship and would like to see experienced professionals share not only their achievements with younger generations, but also the mistakes they have made and the difficulties they have faced. This philosophy is reflected in how they intend to assess the organisation's impact. Rather than simply counting participants or measuring financial performance, they want to track the tangible changes they help bring about, from significant decisions to new partnerships, businesses and professional opportunities.

A community of ten thousand possibilities
Looking ahead to the next decade, ALTIVA has set itself a clear ambition: to build a community of more than 10,000 active members, connected through an ecosystem of learning, collaboration and access to opportunities. Yet the ultimate goal goes beyond the size of this community. It lies in the ability to forge lasting relationships and help more Mozambicans turn their skills into personal and professional achievements. In a country rich in talent and entrepreneurial ambition, but where access to opportunities remains unequal, ALTIVA wants to help bridge the gap between what people are capable of doing and what they are actually able to achieve. Because, as its founders believe, someone's next big step may begin with a learning experience, a conversation or simply the opportunity to take a seat at the right table.
