With seven business centres in Mozambique's capital and a presence in Portugal, CoWork Lab continues to grow, strengthening its position in the shared workspace market. The opening of its latest centre introduced a concept that brings together work, creativity, art and new opportunities for collaboration.
Founded in 2012, CoWork Lab was established with the aim of providing flexible solutions for entrepreneurs and businesses, enabling them to develop their operations without the overheads associated with a traditional office. At a ceremony attended by around 180 guests, including business leaders, clients, partners and institutional representatives, the company officially opened its seventh Business Centre in Maputo on 13 October. Located on Rua 1307, in the Sommerschield neighbourhood, the new centre also marked the celebration of CoWork Lab's 14 years of operations in Mozambique.

A space where business meets creativity
The new centre occupies a building that housed a training institute between 1991 and 2018. The original inauguration plaque has been preserved, keeping part of the building's history alive.
The facilities offer private offices, meeting rooms, lounges for work and networking, virtual office services and a conference room with capacity for more than 100 people. The offering also includes internet access, reception services, cleaning, round-the-clock security and other support services.

However, the concept extends beyond providing workspaces. CoWork Lab aims to transform the new centre into a meeting point for business leaders, professionals and artists, encouraging the exchange of experiences and the creation of new opportunities.
This vision was reflected in the opening ceremony, which featured live music by Lourenço Junior and the presentation of the photography exhibition “Kintsugi: Where Cracks Become Light” by visual artist Patrícia Costa.
The official proceedings were marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mahomed Mussá, Chairman of the Management Board of TMCEL, and Pedro Ferreira, Managing Director of CoWork Lab.

A launchpad for new businesses
Over the past 14 years, CoWork Lab has supported the growth of a wide range of businesses and professionals, adapting its services to meet changing market needs. Its expansion also includes CoWork Lab Suites, an accommodation solution for professionals in Maputo.
“Fourteen years ago, we opened a small space with a simple idea: to give entrepreneurs a place to start. Today, seeing around 180 people gathered in this new centre shows just how much that idea has grown alongside our clients and partners,” said Pedro Ferreira.
For the Managing Director, the new centre is intended to be more than simply a place to work.
“We want it to be a launchpad for new businesses and a showcase for Mozambique's talent. Here, every connection counts.”
