According to the Government Portal, six water supply systems have been announced as entering service in the districts of Magude, Moamba and Matutuíne, in Maputo province. This infrastructure, in which investment amounted to around 123 million meticais, was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi.
During the inauguration, President Nyusi expressed great pride in this achievement, highlighting the significant impact these systems will have on improving Mozambicans' living conditions, above all with regard to health and access to drinking water. These works are seen as an important milestone in the government's commitment to the well-being of its citizens, especially those living in rural areas.
The President recalled the importance of these systems in the context of the rainy season, which brings with it the risk of water-related diseases such as cholera and diarrhoea. The availability of drinking water through these systems is therefore a crucial step in preventing these diseases, helping to improve basic sanitation and reduce the population's vulnerability to these conditions.
Filipe Nyusi concluded by appealing for the conservation and maintenance of this water supply infrastructure, emphasising the need to ensure its durability so that more people can benefit from this essential resource. This appeal underscores the importance of sustainable water resource management, crucial for continued development and improved quality of life in Mozambique.
