More than five hundred girls who had dropped out of school because of early unions have been reintegrated into the education system this year in the province of Sofala. These adolescents, aged between 14 and 17, come from the districts of Dondo, Nhamatanda, Búzi, Chibabava, Gorongosa, Caia, Marromeu and Machanga.

The initiative, led by the Foundation for Community Development (FDC), aims to promote the rights of girls living in extreme poverty, guaranteeing them continued access to education. The FDC's provincial manager in Sofala, Titos Quembo, highlighted that most of the early unions were dissolved through legal proceedings, in which those who arranged them were tried and convicted.

This action represents a significant effort to improve the quality of life and future prospects of these young women, ensuring them a safe and inclusive educational environment. The return of these girls to school is a crucial step towards breaking the cycle of poverty and promoting gender equality in the region.
