My passion for motorsport began when I was 10 years old, nine years ago to be precise. It was on a cloudy day when my father and I were passing the ATCM and saw some karts going round the track. I asked my father if we could go and watch them up close, and he took me. After watching them for a while, we asked how I could sign up. I began training at the academy with the instructor Adelino Maposse.
The first competitions I entered were in karts, in South Africa. Gradually, I started taking part in world championships. My fascination grew even more when I began competing in Europe. After a while, I decided to progress, moving on to bigger cars, and I have raced all over the world. The first car that took me into competition was a Formula 4 car, basically a mini Formula 1, and it even looks similar. It was an incredible feeling, always with a little nervousness mixed in, but nothing that held me back. One of the races I most enjoyed taking part in was the 24 Hours of Dubai, along with Formula 4 in Abu Dhabi. Many races have left their mark on me, but one in 2022 stood out in particular: my victory in the DTM Trophy, which was Mercedes' only win in that championship last year.
Motorsport culture in Mozambique is evolving, but it is still a long way from motorsport at international level, especially when it comes to circuit racing. Carrying a national flag around the world is a great responsibility, especially when representing the country that I love and will always represent for as long as I can. Whenever I raise my flag, anywhere in the world, I feel enormous happiness because it is the country where I grew up and where I have built my life.
I can say with complete certainty that my favourite driver is Lewis Hamilton. He is a driver who shows exceptional qualities that most of the others do not. Following a path similar to mine, he started out in karting, then moved on to the single-seater formulae, progressing until he reached the top, and is considered the driver with the most Formula 1 titles of all time. Without a doubt, he is someone I would love to meet!
As for my future plans, I have already announced on my social media and in a few interviews that I will be racing for the Mücke Motorsport team this year, in the ADAC GT4 and in some rounds of the GT4 European Series. Last season, we took part in the GTWinter Series, where I won.
