Ferroviário de Maputo were crowned African champions by beating Al Ahly of Egypt 81-72 in the final of the Women's Basketball African League (WBAL), played in Dakar, Senegal. With this victory, the "locomotives" win the continental title for the third time, following their great feats of 2018 and 2019.

The Mozambican team showed superiority throughout the competition, finishing the group stage unbeaten and getting past the knockout rounds with distinction. In the final, the "locomotives" were led by outstanding performances from players such as Sílvia Veloso, Ingvild Mucauro and Carla Covane, who secured a consistent lead throughout the game. Despite the late pressure applied by Al Ahly, the experience and determination of the Mozambican team ensured the triumph.

Under coach Nasir Salé, who now has four African titles to his name, Ferroviário once again asserted themselves as a dominant force in continental basketball. With this title, Mozambique now has a total of eight African club victories, reinforcing its tradition in women's basketball. Ferroviário de Maputo thus return the crown to the country, celebrating another page of success in national sport.
