Millennium bim has been honoured by the international magazine Global Finance as Best Bank in Mozambique 2026, as part of the 33rd edition of the renowned Best Bank Awards, an initiative that rewards leading financial institutions in more than 150 countries, territories and districts around the world.
The distinction recognises Millennium bim's consistent performance in a particularly demanding economic context, as well as its capacity for innovation, its financial strength and its continued commitment to improving the customer experience.
In a year marked by significant macroeconomic challenges, Millennium bim achieved growth in Banking Income of 6.4%, driven by the dynamism of its customer business. At the same time, it recorded a 12.4% expansion in customer lending, strengthening its position in the national financial system.
The institution's strength is further demonstrated by a robust capital and liquidity base, notably a solvency ratio of 41.6%, well above the regulatory minimum. This indicator allows the bank to continue to support the development of the Mozambican economy consistently.
The choice of Millennium bim as Best Bank in Mozambique resulted from a wide-ranging consultation process conducted by Global Finance's board of editors, among corporate financial executives, bankers, banking consultants and analysts from various parts of the world.
According to Joseph D. Giarraputo, founder and editorial director of the magazine, “this year's winners are the banks that met their clients' needs in difficult markets and achieved solid results, while laying the foundations for future success. The winning banking organisations managed their assets and liabilities intelligently, given the constant uncertainty over tariffs and global trade.”
