Meta has taken another step forward in the race to develop artificial intelligence (AI), launching two models designed to perform complex tasks, including programming, and retain relevant information about users over extended periods, enabling more personalised and continuous assistance.
Named Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full, the new systems were unveiled earlier this week by the Superintelligence Lab, the technology company's division dedicated to researching and developing advanced artificial intelligence solutions.
According to the company, the models deliver performance levels comparable to Anthropic's Fable 5.1 and OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra, placing them among its most ambitious offerings in this field.
Although they share the same technological foundation, the two versions have been designed to meet different requirements. Muse Wonder prioritises processing speed and a lighter architecture, while Muse Wonder Full features a larger architecture intended for operations requiring more advanced capabilities.
The main innovation announced by Meta, however, lies in the systems' memory capabilities. Unlike solutions focused on isolated interactions, the new models have been developed to retain information considered important for days, weeks or even months, making it easier to maintain continuity across tasks and tailor responses to individual needs.
This feature is intended to allow users to resume previously started activities without having to repeatedly provide the same information or reconstruct the context of earlier conversations.
“We put a tremendous amount of effort into making sure your model can remember what matters to you over days, weeks, months and beyond,” said Kavya Kopparapu, one of those responsible for developing the systems, as quoted by technology news website TechCrunch.
The launch also marks a milestone for Meta's artificial intelligence division, representing the unveiling of its most advanced models since Alexandr Wang, founder of Scale AI, took over its leadership.
In a statement released to coincide with the unveiling, the company emphasised that Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full mark a new stage in the development of systems capable of providing users with more contextualised and sustained assistance.
With this initiative, Meta aims to strengthen its position in the development of artificial intelligence technologies that can not only respond to immediate requests but also support tasks over time, using memory as a central element of personalisation.
