The President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, will attend the opening of the Mozambique-Portugal Business Forum, to be held from 22 to 24 April at the Belém Cultural Centre in Lisbon. The event will bring together around 80 Mozambican business people, who will visit several locations in Portugal, including Porto and Sines, before the forum.

Organised by the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA), the business mission aims to establish new partnership and brand-representation opportunities in the oil and gas, agribusiness, transport and logistics, finance and services, renewable energy, and hotel and tourism sectors. Maria Assunção Abdula, vice-president of the CTA, expressed the importance of this event for exploring internationalisation opportunities for Portuguese companies and for increasing and diversifying Portuguese investment in Mozambique.

During the business mission, sectoral and focused round tables are scheduled, with the participation of members of the governments of both countries. The signing of important agreements is also planned between the Mozambique Stock Exchange and the Portuguese Stock Exchange, as well as between the CTA and the CPLP Business Confederation and the AIP. In addition, the creation of a joint Working Commission, coordinated by the Investment and Export Promotion Agency (APIEX), will be proposed, with the aim of turning into reality the business intentions discussed during the event.

President Nyusi will also take part in a ceremony commemorating 50 years since 25 April in Lisbon, demonstrating the strong cultural and historical bond between Mozambique and Portugal.
