A deck of cards inspired by Mozambique

Did you know there is a deck of cards inspired by Mozambique? Its name is Kaya, which means home in several Bantu languages of southern Mozambique. This deck, the first of its kind among us, aims to extol our history, culture and folklore, in an approach that seeks to value tradition, always aware that it is a process in permanent metamorphosis. It keeps the classic worldwide patterns, distinguishing itself by exploring in its graphics elements that, as Mozambicans, make us unique.
Hearts - Love is understood here as the capacity to put oneself in another's place, the capacity to set ourselves aside and allow ourselves to be a comfortable Kaya for the other, as if it were their own.

Diamonds – In this deck, Wealth refers to the possibility of having around us people for whom love is a way of life, a support, a shoulder, a lap to cry our pains on and a capulana to dry our tears.

Clubs – Nature is the environment around us: the green fields, the birds, the Indian Ocean that bathes our coast, the land where we seek our medicines and which receives our ancestors, where we dance and celebrate the gift of life.
Spades – Defence: we are looking at the need to preserve our cultural values, the diversity that characterises us, our identity, the rituals and characters who star in our history of bravery and weakness, of defeats, victories and draws.

As for the court cards:

King – Symbolises kingship, or rather the era of the great names in the historical revolution up to our independence.

Queen - The woman from whom life springs, through whom human existence is perpetuated. She is like the earth that allows plants and oxygen to exist.... She is the sensitive being who contributes to society with a mother's love.

Jack – The folkloric world or, more broadly, the diversity of youth where the everyday past is interlinked with the present.

Ace - Designated as Africa's natural riches.
