The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) announced on Tuesday that Cyclone Chido, now downgraded to a tropical depression, no longer poses a direct threat to Mozambique. According to the body’s latest statement, the system has moved inland into Zimbabwe, away from Mozambican territory, and is expected to dissipate completely within the next 24 hours.
Although the situation has developed favourably, INAM warns of the possibility of light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, in some districts of Manica and Tete provinces. Atmospheric instability may persist, occasionally affecting local communities, so the public is advised to stay alert to weather updates.
