Maputo Central Hospital (HCM) is facing serious difficulties in providing food for inpatients, urgently needing more than one and a half billion meticais to remedy the situation.

According to Mouzinho Saíde, Director-General of the HCM, the hospital has only half of the budget needed to feed patients, which is insufficient to prepare the roughly seven thousand meals required each day.

At an event in Maputo, Saíde thanked António Niquice, first secretary of Frelimo in the city, for donating seven tonnes of assorted foodstuffs. This donation will be distributed among various health units in the city, temporarily easing the hospital's food crisis.

Niquice stressed the importance of good nutrition for patients' swift recovery, reaffirming Frelimo's commitment to supporting health institutions and contributing to the well-being of the population. Despite the generous donation, significant effort is still needed to ensure that all HCM patients receive the nutrition they need for a full and healthy recovery.
