As part of the celebrations of Mozambican Women's Day and Month, Banco Comercial e de Investimentos (BCI) held a public tribute to women in the cities of Maputo, Matola, Beira and Nampula, underlining their importance in the country's economic and social dynamics.

The initiative, which involved employees of the bank, consisted of visits to landmark markets, namely Janeth and Fajardo in the capital; Santos in Matola; Maquinino in Beira; and the Central Market in Nampula, where symbolic gifts were handed to women traders, in particular belt bags personalised with the bank's brand.

More than a promotional gesture, the action sought to recognise the daily effort of thousands of women who, in informal and resilient settings, provide for their families and contribute to the circulation of the national economy.

According to BCI, the gifts also had a functional purpose: to make it easier to handle and carry cash during daily trading, a need often neglected in institutional initiatives.

The handover was marked by warm interactions between bank employees and the women sellers, with hugs, smiles and words of appreciation dominating the atmosphere, giving the action both an affectionate and an institutional character.

At the close of the campaign, BCI reiterated its commitment to valuing the role of women, not just as a one-off tribute, but as continuing recognition of their central place in Mozambique's development.
