Five young people took the first step this week in an experience that could shape the course of their professional careers, joining the MozYouth Foundation Internship Programme, developed in partnership with the Gorongosa Restoration Project (GRP), in Gorongosa National Park.
Over the next six months, the interns will be placed in a structured professional environment, where they will have direct contact with the organisation's operational reality, gaining practical experience, honing technical skills and understanding how different sectors work.
The participants, from the district of Gorongosa and the city of Beira, have been assigned to technical and operational teams in Fleet Management, Auto Mechanics, Auto Electrics, General Electrics and Occupational Health, Hygiene and Safety (HST), where they will carry out activities under the constant supervision of specialist professionals.
More than providing a first opportunity for contact with the labour market, the programme aims to create a solid foundation for the development of technical, personal and professional skills, considered essential to facilitate these young people's future entry into the world of work.
The initiative is the result of a partnership between Gorongosa National Park, the Embassy of Ireland in Mozambique and the MozYouth Foundation, reflecting a shared commitment to promoting employability and the development of Mozambican youth.
The programme also benefits from the support of the Embassy of Ireland, which has taken part in several initiatives aimed at youth development, professional training and the creation of sustainable opportunities for local communities.
By focusing on hands-on learning and training in a real work setting, the programme helps bring young people closer to the demands of the market, broadening their prospects for professional and personal growth and strengthening the positive impact on the communities they come from.
