The Frelimo party, which governs Mozambique, has recently announced the formation of a Central Office to prepare the general elections scheduled for 9 October. This decision was taken at the 20th ordinary session of the party's Political Commission, chaired by its president, Filipe Nyusi, who is also the current President of the Republic.

The office is headed by Roque Silva, Frelimo's secretary-general, and includes several notable party figures appointed to lead the central assistance brigades to the country's various provinces. Among them, Filipe Paúnde, a former secretary-general of Frelimo, was named for Niassa province; Amélia Muendane, president of the Tax Authority, for Cabo Delgado; and Aires Ali, a former prime minister, for Zambézia.

In addition to the provincial appointments, the office includes specific leaders for critical areas such as Internal Activity, Mobilisation and Media, Finance and Logistics, Documentation, Verification and Analysis of Candidacies, Defence and Security, and Foreign Affairs. Verónica Macamo, Margarida Talapa, Adriano Maleiane, Eneas Comiche, Ana Comoana, Alberto Chipande, and Alcinda de Abreu stand out among the appointments.
The meeting of Frelimo's Central Committee and the consequent announcement of the list of candidates for the elections, in particular for the Presidency of the Republic, are awaited with anticipation.
