Maputo will once again host, on 8 August, one of the most important meetings between young people and the labour market: the Jobs Fair 2025, promoted by the National Employment Institute (INEP), in partnership with the MozYouth Foundation and SDO Mozambique. The initiative will take place at the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Centre and will have 60 companies from various parts of the country.
The one-day event seeks to bring candidates and employers together in an environment rich in opportunities. The range of sectors represented runs from energy, through information and communication technologies (ICT), finance, telecommunications, media and human resources, to development cooperation. Professional internships and entry-level positions are expected to be on offer.
Roy Tembe, director-general of INEP, stressed the strategic importance of the fair for the professional future of Mozambican young people:
“This fair is a concrete step in our mission to improve the employability outcomes of young Mozambicans. By bringing together the Government, the private sector and development partners, we are creating real conditions for inclusive opportunities for sustainable jobs for our young people.”
This year’s edition also has the support of partners such as the Embassy of Ireland and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). One focus will be the green economy, with the promotion of sustainable business models and career paths geared to a low-carbon future.
Daniela Timmich, programme manager at the MozYouth Foundation, reinforces the call to take part:
“This is a real opportunity for young people to take the first step in their careers. We encourage all young people to come prepared: bring your CVs, dress professionally and be ready to meet potential employers.”
Entry will be free, with no need to register in advance. The organisers guarantee a space open to young people interested in exploring career options, making contact with companies and identifying concrete opportunities for entering the labour market.
Alongside the fair, the Youth Conference will also take place, highlighting recognition of good practices and initiatives that promote youth employment. The morning session is expected to include institutional leaders and development partners. Certificates will be presented to companies with a strong involvement in creating opportunities, along with public commitments to promote internships and training programmes.
For Vicente Sitoe, executive director of SDO Mozambique, this is a turning point:
“It will bring together young voices, institutional leadership and the private sector to discuss how we can intensify efforts and work together to respond to the employment aspirations of Mozambican young people.”
