The country has managed to collect more than 92 million dollars in agricultural exports over the past two years, equivalent to more than 5.8 billion meticais, according to the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi. The agricultural products exported were food and cash crops, such as cotton fibre, cashew nuts, macadamia, pigeon peas and the main fruits, which met the quality requirements demanded in the agricultural marketing chain.
According to President Filipe Nyusi, with the success of exports, the country has the possibility of establishing new aggregation and processing centres, especially in the northern provinces. He also mentioned that the support provided to small and medium-sized enterprises in the agricultural and livestock sector, which were affected by Tropical Storm Freddy, should result in improvements in the agricultural marketing chain. Rádio Moçambique reported on the matter.
