Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB), based in Tete province, expects to hand over about 300 million dollars (approximately 18 billion meticais) to the State's coffers over the course of this year.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the chairman of HCB's Board of Directors, Tomás Matola, who highlighted not only the company's economic impact, but also its commitment to social development in Mozambique.
Investment in education and health
Besides its financial contribution to the State, HCB will continue to support community projects through its social responsibility policy, with a focus on Education and Health.
“We support Education by building schools, buying desks and through other initiatives in the sector. In Health, we fund the construction of hospitals and health centres. At the end of last year, we inaugurated a health centre in Mueda district, in Cabo Delgado province, and delivered medical equipment to several hospital units,” said Matola.
HCB plays a strategic role in the Mozambican economy, not only as one of the main sources of revenue for the State, but also through its direct impact on improving the living conditions of communities.
