We believe that those who study Law have a secret interest in changing the world. Sharon Ibraimo always knew she wanted to make an impact on the world through the law. Now, it is from the Portuguese capital that she is developing part of the change she wants to see.
Living outside Mozambique was always part of Sharon's ambitions and, after her law degree at Eduardo Mondlane University, she headed to Cape Town, where she deepened her knowledge of Commercial Law. The truth is that, although she has always sought new professional goals, it was above all people who led Sharon to explore new horizons.

When she began working in the Portuguese market, Sharon met some resistance and difficulty in adapting to the procedures and legislation, but resilience is part of her DNA, and she has a recipe: the secret is to study and try to get there.

“I studied in Cape Town and, after finishing my master's, I was convinced that I could and should return to my country to make a difference. However, when I returned, I immediately felt that, at least at that moment, I would not be able to stay there and that there was much more in the world for me to explore,” Sharon tells us.

When she began working in the Portuguese market, Sharon met some resistance and difficulty in adapting to the procedures and legislation, but resilience is part of her DNA, and she has a recipe: “The secret is to study and try to get there.” Allied to this desire to do more and better, our lawyer feels that it is important to always show more and prove her worth because, unfortunately, the connotation of coming from Africa is not seen as an asset.

“I have always been a development-minded person, so much so that my doctoral proposal was in development studies, with a focus on SADC,” Sharon declares, going on to mention the number of projects she has yet to implement in Mozambique.

Now, aged 30, Sharon acknowledges that the Mozambican community living in Lisbon helps a great deal in her whole process of feeling closer to home.
