In Niassa, Doctors' Day was marked with a clear message: there is no development without health, and no full health without adequate nutrition. On Tuesday, 25 March, doctors from the province greeted Governor Elina Judite Massengele, highlighting the impact of her work in strengthening health care and improving the well-being of communities.

In a province that asserts itself as the Agricultural Capital of Mozambique, the professionals argued for an integrated vision linking agricultural production, nutrition and health care. The idea, they stressed, is to turn the potential of the countryside into concrete gains for the population, tackling malnutrition and encouraging balanced diets, with particular attention to children and women.

The doctors' intervention placed at the centre of the debate a decisive truth: agricultural abundance only fully fulfils its mission when it is reflected on families' tables and in the prevention of diseases associated with poor nutrition.

Replying to the greeting, Governor Elina Judite Massengele acknowledged the commitment of the medical profession and reiterated the provincial government's commitment to strengthening health services. She also reaffirmed the focus on public policies able to convert Niassa's agricultural potential into better health, better nutrition and a higher quality of life for all.

The closing message summed up the spirit of the meeting in a simple, absolute sentence: “Our greatest value is life.”
