On the afternoon of 26 May, Vodacom Mozambique's headquarters became a venue for intense debate on the paths and risks of communication in the digital age. Industry professionals, institutional representatives, students and experts gathered for the second edition of Oficina do Futuro, an initiative promoted by Revista Xonguila, with the support of UBA and Vodacom Mozambique.
Under the theme “Information, influence and transformation: communicating in a digital world”, the event focused on the challenges that now define the digital ecosystem, from the credibility of information to the influence exerted on online platforms, including artificial intelligence, reputation and responsibility in the virtual space.
The main panel, titled “The new territory of information”, was moderated by Marie Anaïs and brought together different voices from the worlds of communication and digital strategy. The speakers included Riaz Jassat, Mirza Jamal and Silaide Mutemba.
Throughout the session, participants analysed the accelerating transformation in how information is consumed, the impacts of disinformation and the growing influence of digital platforms in shaping public opinion.
The programme also included the session “Metrics, data and the new value of communication”, led by Jaime Fernandes, focusing on the use of data and metrics to guide communication strategies in an increasingly competitive and digitalised environment.
Another prominent topic was online exposure and its legal limits. This was addressed by Joaquim Gaspar, who led the presentation “The legal challenges of online exposure”, devoted to issues of reputation, digital responsibility and the legal framework in the virtual environment.
One of the most striking moments of the event came with the official launch of Projecto Kibo, a complementary educational initiative designed to strengthen practical, creative and digital skills considered essential for the new generations and for the country's future.
With this second edition, Oficina do Futuro reinforces its position as a platform for reflection and knowledge-sharing on the transformations that are redefining communication, society and the future of Mozambique.
