Mozambique has recently received a significant shipment of school books intended for free distribution, marking an important step in supporting the National Education System. The textbooks, covering the first to sixth years of primary education, in both monolingual and bilingual form, total 21 million copies, of which more than half are already in the country.
The Deputy Minister of Education and Human Development, Manuel Bazo, said the process of delivering the books faced challenges, with delays attributed to the companies in charge of printing, which meant that the textbooks were not available before classes began. However, efforts are being made to speed up distribution, ensuring that the materials reach students' hands as soon as possible.
The distribution logistics, as explained by the deputy minister, involve moving the books from the ports to the provinces and then to the districts, before finally delivering them to schools. The collection of the material at the ports is currently under way, to be followed immediately by the plan for its actual distribution.
This initiative represents a significant effort by the Ministry of Education and Human Development (MINEDH) to ensure that educational resources reach all primary school pupils in Mozambique, reinforcing the country's commitment to inclusive, quality education for all.
