The Mozambican Executive today began a census of the country's industrial sector, with the aim of establishing measures to revive a field that was once vital for economic growth and the balance of payments.

The Government's plan involves reviving industry. To do so, it requires a clear understanding of the sector's current state, as Minister of Industry and Trade Silvino Moreno shared during the launch of the Global Mapping Project for Manufacturing Industry in Mozambique.

Moreno said the Government is keen to see a recovery in manufacturing branches in which the country has previously distinguished itself, such as metalworking, construction materials, tyres, hospital furniture, paper, steelmaking and the agri-food sector.
