The global car industry is going through one of the greatest transformations in its history, and China is today one of the main protagonists of that change. Chinese manufacturers have stopped competing on price alone and now stand out for innovation, technology and the ability to produce vehicles that rival some of the world's best-known brands.

In recent years, companies such as GWM, BYD, Chery, Geely and SAIC have won a prominent position in international markets, driven by heavy investment in research, development and electric mobility. In several countries, these brands are recording significant growth and beginning to alter the balance of a sector that for decades was dominated by Japanese, European and North American manufacturers.

This trend is also beginning to take hold in Mozambique.

One example is the official arrival of GWM (Great Wall Motor) in the country through Mozility, a Mozambican company that exclusively represents the Chinese manufacturer. The company is responsible for importing, selling and providing after-sales service for the brand's vehicles, bringing to the national market models such as the Haval SUVs, the Tank off-roaders and the P-Series pick-ups.

GWM, founded in 1984, is currently one of China's largest car makers. The company exports to dozens of markets and has research and development centres in several countries, investing heavily in hybrid engines, electric vehicles, intelligent driver-assistance systems and connectivity solutions.

In Mozambique, the brand's presence reflects an increasingly visible trend: a growing supply of new Chinese vehicles, ready to compete in a market traditionally dominated by Japanese brands and by imported second-hand cars.

For consumers, this development means a greater variety of choice. The new models stand out for their modern design, high level of equipment, advanced technological solutions and competitive warranties, features that have helped to awaken the interest of individuals and businesses.

Mozility itself seeks to respond to this new reality through an integrated offering that includes new vehicle sales, specialist technical service, genuine parts and mobility solutions for corporate and private customers.

Industry experts believe that the growing presence of Chinese manufacturers could make the Mozambican car market more competitive, encouraging innovation, increasing the supply of new vehicles and contributing to a gradual renewal of the national vehicle fleet.

As these brands consolidate their presence in Africa, Mozambique emerges as one of the markets where this transformation is beginning to become most evident. And GWM's commitment, through Mozility, shows that Chinese manufacturers see the country as a market with growth potential and a gateway to a new generation of mobility.
