The second edition of the COMARP Forum, held recently, confirmed its status as one of the most important events for Communications, Marketing and Public Relations professionals in Mozambique. With more than 300 professionals and 50 companies taking part, the event stood out for the diversity of topics addressed and for its international collaboration, with specialists from several countries enriching the discussions. One of the highlights was the introduction of the "Mozambique COMARP Awards", which celebrated talent and innovation in the sector. However, for Edson Rufai, founder of the Forum, this is only the beginning of an ambitious journey that promises to turn the event into a regional and global benchmark in the coming years.

Following the success of this second edition, the founders of the COMARP Forum have bold plans for the future. Over the next five years, the aim is to expand the event beyond Mozambique's borders, taking it to other countries in Southern Africa and the CPLP. According to Edson, they intend to create a knowledge-sharing platform involving professionals from different countries, promoting an exchange of experiences that benefits not only Mozambique but the whole region. This expansion will not only increase the Forum's visibility but also strengthen partnerships with international bodies such as the African Marketing Confederation (AMC), the SADC Marketing Association and the International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO). The Forum's founder points out that international collaboration was one of the aspects most valued by participants at this edition. “We want to keep bringing in specialists from different markets to enrich the event, making the Forum ever more relevant to the sector", he says, stressing the importance of maintaining a global network of contacts.

Another crucial aspect for the Forum's future will be digitalisation. “We are planning to integrate more technology into the coming editions, such as virtual talks and digital platforms to facilitate networking and remote participation”, said Edson Rufai. Incorporating digital tools will make the event more accessible to a global audience, enabling more dynamic and continuous interaction between participants, even after the Forum has ended. In addition, innovations in the format of the event are planned, including more hands-on workshops and interactive sessions, where participants will be able to apply directly what they have learned. “We want the Forum to be a space where things are both discussed and put into practice. Interactivity will be an essential element for the future”, he said.

Topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and environmental, social and corporate governance practices (ESG – Environmental, Social and Governance) stood out at this edition and will continue to be central in future editions. The Forum's founder believes that AI has the potential to transform the communications and marketing sector, enabling campaigns to be personalised and processes to be automated more efficiently. “AI is already changing the way we communicate, and we need to prepare professionals for these changes”, he stressed. On the other hand, ESG practices are becoming increasingly relevant as companies come under pressure to adopt more sustainable and ethical strategies. “Sustainability is not an option but a necessity. And at the Forum we want to continue promoting the integration of ESG practices into business strategies”, Edson emphasised, noting that these topics will be essential for ensuring the sector's responsible growth.

For Edson Rufai, the Forum's success so far is merely a glimpse of what is to come. With international expansion, the integration of digital technologies and a focus on global topics such as AI and sustainability, the Forum is poised to become a benchmark platform for innovation in the Communications, Marketing and Public Relations sector. “Our aim is to keep growing and innovating, ensuring that the COMARP Forum is a space not only for discussion but also for creating opportunities and development for professionals in the sector”, he concluded. The Forum's future promises to be dynamic and transformative, with an impact in Mozambique, across the whole region and beyond. With a clear and ambitious strategy, the COMARP Forum is well placed to shape the future of the sector, offering its participants not only knowledge but also the tools to face the global challenges to come.
