MMEC, the Mozambique Mining Energy Conference Exhibition, is a trusted brand with more than 8 biennial editions held. Since 2008, MMEC has been staging conferences and exhibitions of high strategic value, helping partners with their business development goals. The Government of the Republic of Mozambique, in partnership with AME TRADE, an organisation specialising in trade promotion for the energy, finance, infrastructure, mining and oil and gas sectors, brought us the latest edition, under the theme “Sustainable development across the entire mineral and energy value chain, towards a low-carbon future”, which took place on 2 and 3 June in the city of Maputo, at the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Centre.

MMEC 2022 brought together senior leaders from the mining, energy, oil and gas, construction, engineering, legal and consulting sectors, as well as development partners and public-sector officials from Mozambique's municipal, provincial and central governments. The meeting took place at a key stage for several projects that are due to be scaled up, with investment and project opportunities expected to grow rapidly.
Over two days, MMEC provided a unique and valuable occasion to present ongoing projects and strategic plans for the region, as well as for networking among participants, offering insights into the opportunities in the natural resources sector and allowing new partnerships to be formed and existing ones strengthened. First-time attendees and experienced professionals alike were all able to take advantage of the occasion.

Two digital tools were launched at the event that make it easier to access information and increase opportunities for national businesses to take part in the oil and gas industry. The platforms, developed by ENH (Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos), are the ENH Map View and the Supplier Portal. The ENH Map View is a portal for consulting geological and geophysical data on exploration and production blocks, as well as data on the distribution and consumption of hydrocarbons in Mozambique. The Supplier Portal, for its part, is a platform that allows service providers to register online and brings in a wide range of suppliers, with emphasis on national SMEs, for the provision of services to ENH and, subsequently, to the industry. The creation of the two platforms marks the company's continued commitment to strengthening transparency, as well as to contributing to the growth of local content.
