Millennium bim took part, at the invitation of the Gorongosa District Government, in the 1st District Conference on Publicising Climate Resilience Potential and Attracting Investment for Environmental Conservation, held on 27 and 28 June in Sofala province, broadening the scope of the debate on the contemporary solutions the country is putting forward in the face of climatic upheavals.
As the only bank operating in the Gorongosa district, Millennium bim has contributed actively to the ecological integrity of physical and biological resources, as well as to creating opportunities for investment in sustainable areas that bolster the socio-environmental values of Sofala province.
In addition to representatives of the Bank, the session was attended by members of the Provincial and Local Government, of Gorongosa National Park, of AVZ, GAPI and FARE, among other partners, and allowed the Bank to reinforce its support in the area of environmental sustainability.
On the occasion of the event, the CEO of Millennium bim, João Martins, said: “One of our greatest responsibilities in the present day is to contribute to raising awareness in the business community of the importance of investing in the conservation and preservation of the environment, through the adoption of green businesses in different areas, bearing in mind that these, more than generating revenue, ensure the sustainability of investments and of the environment.”
Support for sustainability and climate resilience is part of the pillars of action of the Social Responsibility programme Mais Moçambique pra Mim, which has been implemented over the years with a positive impact on the lives of Mozambicans.
