The restaurant Manjo is located on Maputo’s marginal avenue, in Jardim Centenário. It is characterised by excellent service, quality food, good drinks and a relaxed atmosphere, its main aim being to give its customers a truly unforgettable experience.
The chef, Amina, founder of the restaurant, had had a knack for cooking since she was small, and dreamed of having her own restaurant. She began, however, by working from home, making treats and burgers to order, in order to gain experience and perfect her techniques. Manjo Hamburgueria e Marisqueira thus arose from this dream, with the seafood side coming from a project that already existed for the premises.
Manjo’s cooking is contemporary, with menus that, in keeping with the concept of the house, are divided between burger and seafood offerings in which only fresh produce of national origin is used
Manjo derives from the Italian word “mangiare”. Its cooking is contemporary and the design of the menus, in keeping with the concept of the house, is divided between burger and seafood offerings. The seafood and fresh produce are national, although the team considers it a challenge to work with local products because of their great unreliability and seasonality. When they are unavailable, the option has really been to take dishes off the menu.
The restaurant opened during the pandemic, with digital menus and reinforced hygiene measures put in place, applying all the government’s protocols and guidelines. It puts into practice the brunch concept on Sundays, has dishes of the day throughout the week, and special suggestions. It considers that it has not yet reached the level it wants, but believes it is on the right track.
