Today's world demands more than technical skills: it demands a global mindset, adaptability and deep cultural sensitivity. In a constantly changing reality, where are the leaders capable of guiding Mozambique towards the challenges of the future formed? The answer is not found in books alone, but also in practical experience across borders. It is at this forefront of youth development that AIESEC positions itself. Founded in 1948, in the aftermath of the Second World War, AIESEC was born with a bold purpose: to promote peace and cultural understanding through youth exchange. Today, established as the world's largest organisation run exclusively by young people, the network spans more than 100 countries and territories, delivering more than 30,000 international experiences a year. Put simply, it is a global community that shares an unshakeable belief: youth leadership is one of the answers to the world's great challenges.

The workshop where leaders are forged
In Mozambique, AIESEC already has a solid track record of 26 years. Since 2000, the organisation has impacted more than 15,000 young Mozambicans and built a network of about 600 alumni (former members) who today hold prominent positions in the job market. This impact is sustained through programmes designed to take young people out of their comfort zone:
Global Volunteer: an immersion in social projects and international organisations aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The key differentiator is living with a host family, providing a genuine experience of global citizenship.
Global Talent and Global Teacher: paid professional internships and international teaching opportunities. They are a gateway into multicultural corporate and educational environments, allowing young Mozambicans to test their skills in an international context.
AIESEC membership: internal volunteering within the organisation. Managing areas such as marketing, finance, human resources, projects and sales becomes an authentic practical school of leadership and management.

INCUBOX: the materialisation of collective impact
The proof of AIESEC's maturity in Mozambique lies in its ability to align its global network with the strategic needs of the national ecosystem. The most recent reflection of this ability is the INCUBOX project, consolidated in 2025 through a strategic partnership with Gapi-SI. Through this memorandum of understanding, AIESEC's exchange model was directed towards business acceleration, with the goal of enabling 120 young entrepreneurs to benefit from international experiences. The organisation has taken operational leadership of this initiative, which already has its first 16 experiences successfully completed. One of the most relevant aspects of this intervention was the decentralisation of impact. In the first cycle, participants were selected in the provinces of Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Niassa. With management by AIESEC and funding from Gapi, these young people broadened their business horizons in strategic markets in the region: ten went to Tanzania, four to Rwanda and two to Kenya.

The return and the multiplier effect

For AIESEC, exchange has never been an end in itself, but rather the beginning of a cycle of transformation. On returning from cities such as Mwanza, Nairobi, Kigali or Juja-Kiambu, these young people bring with them renewed discipline, international networks of contacts and a broader business vision. The true sustainability of this platform lies in its multiplier effect. On returning to their communities, each participant becomes an agent of change, applying global knowledge to meet local challenges. In celebrating 26 years of activity in Mozambique, AIESEC reaffirms its role in shaping a new generation of leaders, continually challenging Mozambican youth to cross borders and discover that their potential can be, indeed, one of the country's greatest export assets.
