Following the series of articles on the Entrepreneurship Challenge that the CFAO group launched in partnership with Xonguila Magazine, we have been highlighting, in this section, which aims to inspire and publicise innovative solutions to Mozambique’s challenges, each of the initiatives focused on mobility and road safety that were selected. We now present the fifth, the Djika Moz project, an annual roadshow that crosses the whole of Mozambique promoting road education and raising public awareness of traffic rules and road safety standards.
Djika Moz, which means “to go around the country” in Changana, is a Mozambican motoring roadshow in which vehicles are tested in a variety of road conditions, documented with television and radio broadcasts. This event travels through every province, showcasing Mozambique, its culture, customs and people. It starts and ends in the capital, Maputo. The project was officially launched in 2023, with great success, and promises to keep growing in 2024. Led by Lucas Francisco Melo, its main objectives are to promote road safety and defensive driving, as well as to foster national unity and local tourism, aiming to establish the motoring rally as an annual national tradition and to put Mozambique on the world tourism map.

The route covers all of the country’s provinces, passing through strategically selected locations. At each stop, talks on road safety and defensive driving are held, with the participation of members of the municipalities, the Mozambique Republic Police (PRM), the National Land Transport Institute (INATRO), the Maputo City Municipal Council and other bodies.

More than a sporting event, this roadshow is an educational and awareness-raising platform. The talks and activities held along the route have a direct impact on citizens’ awareness of the importance of following traffic rules and adopting defensive driving. The project’s operating model is based on Mozambique’s vast territorial extent and the specific challenges of each region. Turned into a genuine reality show, it is broadcast on television and publicised on social media and radio, which widens its reach and visibility. For motor companies, it offers the opportunity to test and promote their vehicles in real road conditions.

The success of the first edition of Djika Moz demonstrates its potential to become an annual tradition in Mozambique, continuously promoting road safety, national unity and tourism.
