The conditions in which healthcare is provided are an integral part of every patient's experience and are particularly important during a hospital stay. Against this backdrop, Millennium bim has donated more than 100 hospital supplies, including mattresses, blankets and bed sheets, to Quelimane Central Hospital, primarily for its Paediatrics and Maternity departments.
The initiative forms part of the Health Pillar of the Bank's Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, “Mais Moçambique pra Mim”, and follows a process of close coordination with the hospital, which made it possible to identify specific needs and direct support towards departments directly involved in caring for children and mothers.
Together, the departments benefiting from the donation have 168 beds, including 104 in Paediatrics and 64 in Maternity, highlighting the scale of the services to which this support is being directed.
By focusing its support on Paediatrics and Maternity, Millennium bim aims to contribute to an aspect of healthcare that may not always be the most visible, but which is an essential part of everyday life for hospitalised patients: ensuring appropriate conditions in which they can be received and cared for.

According to José Mesquita, Regional Coordinating Director for Central Mozambique at Millennium bim, “We believe that any social initiative must begin with an understanding of where support can make the greatest difference. In this case, we started with the needs identified by the Hospital itself and sought to provide a practical response, focused on departments that care for children and mothers every day. These are essential conditions that help ensure healthcare is delivered with greater comfort and dignity.”
Tete Provincial Hospital receives support to improve inpatient conditions
Caring for patients also means ensuring appropriate conditions in which they are received and looked after throughout their hospital stay. Guided by this principle, Millennium bim is strengthening its commitment to healthcare through an initiative supporting Tete Provincial Hospital.
As part of the initiative, the Bank donated more than 100 hospital supplies, including mattresses, blankets and bed sheets, primarily for the Paediatrics, Nursery and Maternity departments, helping to address needs identified by the hospital itself. The Bank was represented by its Commercial Director, Dr Arlindo Graça. The ceremony was also attended by the Secretary of State for Tete Province, Cristina de Jesus Xavier Mafumo; the Administrator of Tete City District, Ilda Macome; Cecília Matolino, representing the Mayor of Tete City; and the Provincial Director of Health Services, Xarifo Gentino. Also in attendance were members of the State Representation Services, a representative of the Catholic Church, members of the Hospital's management team, doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

Arlindo Graça, Commercial Director at Millennium bim, emphasised: “When we talk about healthcare, we naturally think about the quality of care provided, but also about the conditions in which each person is received at a time of particular vulnerability. This initiative stems from a specific need identified by the Hospital itself and enables us to provide a practical response which, although simple, can make a difference to the daily lives of patients and the professionals who care for them.”
The needs assessment carried out by the Hospital identified requirements across departments with a combined capacity of 150 beds, covering different areas of maternal and child healthcare. Against this backdrop, the initiative seeks to make a tangible contribution towards improving the conditions in which patients are received and cared for, ensuring greater comfort and dignity.

By prioritising the Paediatrics, Nursery and Maternity departments, the support is directed towards services particularly involved in caring for children, newborn babies and mothers, helping to ensure better conditions throughout their hospital stay.
