Bodhi Kiosk - Soul Food

Bodhi Kiosk is located in an enchanting garden on Avenida Kim Il Sung, in the nation’s capital. Its atmosphere is characterised by a mix of colours, excellent vibes and a relaxed setting.

The idea arose unexpectedly. Back in Maputo after living for 15 years between Vilankulo and Beira, right after Cyclone Idai had passed, Mafalda, the owner, was approached by someone wanting to know whether she would be interested in running a certain space. She went to see it and was dazzled, immediately forming a strong bond with it. She then decided that this was the moment to embark on a new adventure, and opened Bodhi. She had always enjoyed creating and cooking for friends and family, and had once had a food truck where she sold burgers and hot dogs. This, however, was a completely different challenge.

The cuisine at Bodhi Kiosk is a creative fusion of soul and seasoning, culminating in irreverent offerings

Mafalda believes everything is important in her restaurant, the food, the service, the music, and she seeks to create a fusion between the atmosphere and what is prepared there, resulting in a space with a unique aura. Its cuisine is a creative fusion of soul and seasoning, culminating in irreverent offerings, such as sweet potato pasta with prawns, exotic salads, or the Black Mamba Burger. Besides the restaurant, they provide personalised catering services and are pioneers in Maputo in hiring out draught wine kegs (Vino Kegland). They use only national organic products, and all the sauces, from mayonnaise to pâtés, are made in their kitchen.

Although we are going through a worldwide crisis, they point out that if we take the ‘s’ out of the word ‘crisis’, it becomes ‘cri(e)’, which suggests “a moment to reinvent and recreate ourselves”. They consider that every day is a new challenge and intend to keep growing so that, in the near future, they can create a chain bearing their name: Bodhi Kiosk.

If you are looking for something to stir your senses, do not miss this place.
