Born and raised in the wonderful city of Nacala-Porto, in Nampula province, I carry with me the legacy of a humble family rich in cultural values. I am the daughter of a disciplined soldier and of a grandmother who, with her almost 40 years of career as a teacher, instilled in me a passion for knowledge and teaching.
Black Khakhela, more than a company, is a movement of empowerment and education about natural hair. It is the result of my personal journey in search of a way to care for my skin and hair naturally, after a health problem in 2015. My search led me to discover the richness of natural local products, such as mafura oil, coconut oil, castor oil, and the natural shampoo “lilhelho”. However, the difficulty of finding these products on the market led me to create my own solutions. That is how, in 2018, Black Khakhela opened its doors for the first time, in a salon dedicated to coily hair where we used only natural products.
Despite the competition, I did not back down, knowing that my mission went beyond opening a business – it was a matter of educating the public and challenging conventions. That same year, I began reformulating our products, creating more comprehensive solutions. Finally, in 2020, the brand was officially launched, with a solid structure and approved formulas.
Today, Black Khakhela has a line of diverse cosmetic products, all of them designed to offer healthier skin and hair. We are also thinking of children and pregnant women, never forgetting the importance of using natural ingredients. Our catalogue includes co-wash, conditioner, shampoo bars, hair masks, natural deodorant, (avocado) butter for skin and hair, growth oil, ginger oil for skin and hair, among other cosmetics. All our products are fragrance-free, paraben-free, sulphate-free, silicone-free and made with carefully selected organic oils. In 2022, we took an ambitious step and began rebranding, preparing to take our products beyond borders. And we did it! Our products were approved by the biggest online retailer in the world – Amazon. And we are now preparing to export.
Black Khakhela is a project of passion and dedication. A brand born from the need for natural and healthy care for our bodies. And, above all, a movement that aims to empower and educate about the beauty and strength of our natural hair.
