On the evening of 17 April, the headquarters of Banco Comercial e de Investimentos (BCI) hosted the awards ceremony for the 30 Most Influential Women in Communication in Mozambique – 2025. The initiative, promoted by COMARP – Communication, Marketing and Public Relations –, sought to recognise professionals who, through continuous work and visible impact, have made their mark in the communication sector, whether through journalism, marketing, public relations or institutional communication.
Before the formal ceremony, a workshop took place under the theme “Women, Building Authority and Influence in the Communication and Marketing Sector”. In a participatory and enriching atmosphere, the audience – made up mostly of professionals and students in the field – took an active part in discussions and exchanges of ideas with the invited speakers.
Among the panel's highlights were Lizete Mangueleze, recognised for her pioneering work in personal branding in the PALOP countries, strategic communication and applied anthropology; Stélia Neta, Director of Communication and Institutional Relations at EDM, who brought the perspective of corporate communication in large public institutions; Kátia Massarongo-Nguelume, with extensive experience in business development and sales in the B2B and B2C segments; and Alima Sauji, a communication and engagement strategist, who guided the conversation with depth and sensitivity, drawing also on her work as creator of the podcast Para Elas.
In this space for dialogue, there was talk of how women are conquering new territories, asserting authority with authenticity and influencing the sector with an increasingly conscious, strategic and results-oriented approach.
The high point of the evening was the moment the 30 honoured women took to the stage. It was a true parade of doers – professionals who have shaped the present and future of communication in Mozambique, each with her own style, career and contribution. The diversity of experience mirrored the vitality of the sector and the growing place of women as protagonists in communication and social transformation processes.
Besides the main awards, COMARP also presented three honorary distinctions, recognising contributions of particular relevance to strengthening the sector. This special tribute was received by Ana Zara Fateally, Açucena Paul and Lizete Mangueleze, singled out for their sustained commitment to promoting excellence, innovation and representation in communication in Mozambique.
The ceremony reaffirmed the importance of creating spaces for recognition and sharing in the sector, stressing the need to keep paving the way for communication that is more inclusive, strategic and committed to the country's challenges.
