UBA Mozambique joined the Mozambique Chamber of Commerce (CCM) in launching CCM BUSINESS, a new business magazine dedicated to promoting business, investment, innovation, leadership and private-sector development in Mozambique. The launch ceremony took place as part of FACIM 2026, bringing together representatives of the Government, public and private institutions, business people, investors, entrepreneurs and partners from the business sector.
CCM BUSINESS is born as a platform for information, knowledge and business connection, with the aim of bringing together companies, investors, leaders, entrepreneurs and opportunities, contributing to the strengthening of the Mozambican business ecosystem.
The magazine also aims to give greater visibility to companies and to the key figures of the private sector, to promote the exchange of experiences and to stimulate new opportunities for business, investment and partnership.
A partnership to strengthen the private sector
By taking part in the launch as a sponsor, UBA Mozambique reaffirmed its commitment to private-sector development and to creating the conditions for Mozambican companies to grow, create jobs and compete in national, continental and international markets.
Speaking about this milestone, Pedro Maraguene, Managing Director of UBA Mozambique, stressed that support for the new publication goes beyond sponsoring a magazine.
“It is about supporting a platform that helps strengthen the Mozambican business ecosystem.”
In its address, UBA stressed that information, knowledge and business connection are strategic assets at a time when Mozambique is seeking to accelerate economic growth, strengthen the private sector and create new opportunities for Mozambicans.
The institution also reinforced its conviction that “Mozambique's development necessarily depends on strengthening the national private sector”, highlighting the importance of supporting companies and entrepreneurs in building sustainable and competitive businesses.
More than financing businesses
Throughout its time in Mozambique, UBA has sought to position itself not just as a financial institution but as a partner in the growth of its customers and in the country's economic development.
In this context, the bank has supported initiatives linked to business development, training of entrepreneurs and the integration of Mozambican companies into value chains and African markets.
Among the initiatives highlighted is support for programmes linked to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), helping to prepare companies for an increasingly integrated African market.
The bank also supports the Linkar Programme, developed in partnership with ENH, with the aim of training Mozambican SMEs and integrating them into the oil and gas sector value chain.
Through the UBA Foundation, the group also invests every year in training around 1,000 young people in entrepreneurship, reinforcing its commitment to young people as one of the engines of Africa's economic future.
“We don't just want to finance businesses. We want to help build businesses capable of growing, creating jobs, creating value and competing.”
Visibility, connections and opportunities
During the event, the importance of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to the Mozambican economy was also underlined.
Despite their role in creating jobs, energising local economies and developing innovative solutions, many companies continue to face challenges relating to access to finance, markets, information, value chains and strategic partners.
CCM BUSINESS presents itself as an additional tool for increasing companies' visibility and facilitating connections within the business ecosystem.
“A company may have an excellent product. It may have a great idea. It may have talent. But it needs visibility. It needs connections. It needs opportunities.”
Mozambique connected to Africa
UBA also highlighted the importance of African economic integration and of the opportunities arising from the growth of trade and investment within the continent.
With a presence in 20 African countries, as well as operations in international markets, the UBA Group is positioned to facilitate connections between African companies and contribute to greater economic integration.
The institution argues that Mozambican companies should look beyond the domestic market and take advantage of the opportunities offered by continental integration.
“We want to see more Mozambican companies exporting. We want to see more companies expanding. We want to see more entrepreneurs turning ideas into sustainable businesses”, said Dércio Gomes.
This vision is aligned with UBA's strategy of continuing to build bridges between Mozambique, Africa and the world, facilitating opportunities for companies that wish to expand their businesses.
A collective construction
The launch of CCM BUSINESS was also presented as an example of the importance of partnerships between different players in the economic ecosystem.
For UBA, Mozambique's economic development requires a collective approach, involving the Government, companies, financial institutions, business associations, investors and young entrepreneurs.
“Economic development is not the responsibility of a single institution. It is a collective construction.”
In this sense, CCM BUSINESS could play a relevant role as a space for dialogue, knowledge and the promotion of opportunities, bringing together the different players in the business sector.
Growing with Mozambique
By supporting the launch of the magazine, UBA Mozambique reaffirms its commitment to a stronger, more competitive and more sustainable private sector, as well as to initiatives that contribute to economic growth and the creation of opportunities in Mozambique.
The bank will continue to invest in the growth of its customers, in the development of entrepreneurs and in building bridges between Mozambican companies and African and international markets.
Taking part in the launch of CCM BUSINESS therefore represents not only support for a new business publication but also recognition of the importance of platforms capable of promoting information, knowledge, visibility, dialogue and business connections.
The message UBA left for the business people and entrepreneurs present was one of confidence and determination:
“Keep believing. Keep investing. Keep innovating. Because when a Mozambican company grows, Mozambique grows with it”, said Dércio Gomes, Head of Retail Banking at UBA Mozambique.
