Techsolutions
Edilson Alberto, founder, aged 17, in his own words
Since childhood my dream has always been to be an entrepreneur, to be someone independent, prosperous and capable of changing the world. I noticed, however, that there were still factors missing to put my ideas into practice and really open a business, namely a lack of focus and attitude. In 2019 I took part in a business simulation course and there I was able to learn how businesses work in real life. When I finished, I decided to develop my first business idea and opened Techsolutions. A young Mozambican company that would show Mozambicans and the world that technology is the solution to everything, and that it can make various processes in our lives easier and more dynamic.
Techsolutions is geared towards the information technology sector, where it develops websites, mobile apps, dynamic management systems, platforms and also cybersecurity consultancy. We chose these services because they have an impact on our clients' businesses, as they can help them considerably to improve their processes and stand out in their field. We have taken part in various business and sales technique events. What we consider to have influenced our strategy most was the Makagui Masterclass, led by Daniel David. At that event we were able to see where the company was going wrong in terms of sales and what we could do to increase our turnover and strive to be better in our field.

In our market, there are several business opportunities in various areas; however, it is necessary to understand how to exploit them. I am of the opinion that we should not only look for them but also create them, because they will not always appear, and often have to be created. For the creation of Techsolutions, no business plan was drawn up; we tried to start with what we had, thinking about aspects that would set us apart from other companies. Acknowledging mistakes and being open to criticism is a fundamental trait that every entrepreneur should have, as it will help them grow and improve their services. Our biggest challenge so far has been having to completely redo an e-commerce project because the end client did not like it. In that project we learned that it is important to listen to the client and understand what they really want.
We are very pleased because it is not every day that 17-year-olds manage to achieve what we have achieved so far. However, I think we can do much more and achieve gigantic things, as long as we maintain focus and persistence. Our plan is to expand our company and launch the products we have been developing in this year of 2021 and which we believe will impact the lives of many people and truly prove that technology can change our lives.
Mozambique is a country that offers many opportunities, but they are limited. My advice to young people is not to be afraid to start; start with what you have and, little by little, try to discover the secrets of growing in the world of entrepreneurship and closing deals. Young people must have attitude and not be afraid to go after things and people.
