From 21 to 24 June 2025, Xinavane, in the district of Manhiça, hosted one of the most emblematic events in the national calendar: the Presidential Golf Day – Special Edition. Part of the celebrations of 50 years of National Independence, the event went beyond the sporting sphere to stand as a showcase of excellence for the Mozambique brand, bringing together culture, tourism, investment and economic diplomacy in a single setting.

The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, was present and, in a speech marked by solemnity and conviction, stressed the importance of the event as an expression of national vitality. For the Head of State, “this day transcends a mere sporting celebration. It is a symbolic milestone that weaves together the history of a resilient people, the energy of a growing Nation and the vision of a promising future for all Mozambicans, from the Rovuma to the Maputo and from Zumbo to the Indian Ocean”.

Business and sports delegations from Angola, South Africa, Eswatini and Namibia took part, underlining the African and cooperative character of the event. In President Chapo's view, the international presence showed growing confidence in the continent's potential and in Mozambique's ability to build lasting bridges. “It is an unmistakable sign that our continent is alive, confident and determined to build, together, a future of shared prosperity,” he said.

The initiative was coordinated by Danilo Nhantumbo, president of the Mozambican Association for the Development of the Golf Industry (AMOGOLFE), who was publicly praised by the President of the Republic for his contribution to organising the event and to promoting Mozambican golf at regional and international level.

More than a competition, the Presidential Golf Day 2025 served as a stage for priority causes such as education, community health and social inclusion. The event reaffirmed the national commitment to shared progress and to valuing every citizen, regardless of their origin, belief or condition. In the context of the Golden Jubilee, Mozambican women also gained a special platform with the launch of the First Lady Golf Classic, promoted by AMOGOLFE and sponsored by the First Lady of the Republic, Gueta Chapo, who took the opening shot. This annual initiative will focus on women's causes, education and health, having been born with a spirit of solidarity and inclusion.

The Interministerial Commission for Major National and International Events (CIGENI) recognised the merit of the initiative and recommended its inclusion in the official calendar. At the close of the ceremony, President Chapo declared: “The future is played with vision, won with unity and faced with courage. And today, also with a club in my hand and Mozambique in my heart, I do my part as a Mozambican proud of my roots”.

The Presidential Golf Day 2025 was thus a wide-ranging and well-orchestrated celebration, which shed light on what Mozambique has to offer — on and off the golf courses.
