O Petisco

There are places with characteristics that make them distinct from all others. The food may be more or less good, the atmosphere more or less pleasant, but there is something more about them that makes them unique. There is a context, there is a mystique, there is a figure, or some other element that turns a simple restaurant into something unique, and O Petisco has that certain something.
It is a Maputo restaurant that for many years operated at the Hoyo Hoyo guesthouse, but is now located in a pleasant private garden on Avenida Mártires de Machava. This bastion of Goan cuisine in Maputo is one of those places that everyone should know, because the food, whose quality is closely overseen by the owner, Mrs Isabel, is genuinely good.

With dishes that are more and less spicy, aromas and flavours that make your mouth water, the value for money at this restaurant is excellent. Do not hesitate to order, among its various offerings, sarapatel, chacuti or biryani, for example, accompanied by exotic pickles. For dessert, among others, the delicious bebinca. If you prefer to enjoy a dish from O Petisco in the comfort of your home, takeaway is available, with a varied menu and many options for the family or groups of friends. The rissoles and samosas are well known in our capital.

The service is friendly and informal and, if you are looking for a place that will surprise you, this is an excellent suggestion. Visit it and, while you are at it, take the opportunity to admire in passing the beautiful garden that serves as its entrance, with a great many varied plants lovingly tended.
