Golf tourism represents an attractive new opportunity for Mozambique, promoting the presence of businesspeople, investors and professionals from various fields.

On 24 August, the American Chamber of Commerce in Mozambique (AmCham Mozambique) held the first edition of the AmCham Golf Day, an event that took place at the Tongaat Hulett golf course in Xinavane, in Maputo province.

AmCham Mozambique, founded in May 2019, has the mission of promoting the principles of free trade, open markets and ethical business practices, with the aim of strengthening ties between Mozambican and American companies. At present, the organisation has 47 member companies, of which 27 are American or representatives of American brands, establishing itself as the main voice of American companies in the country.

According to Dr Faheema Sulemane, Executive Director of AmCham Mozambique, the AmCham Golf Day is a hallmark event of American Chambers of Commerce around the world. This annual event was meticulously planned to bring together members, partners and other stakeholders from various industries, providing a day of golf and networking opportunities during mealtimes, in a relaxed atmosphere conducive to forging new connections. Participants were able to establish and strengthen relationships, share experiences and explore new business opportunities.

This first AmCham Mozambique edition had more than 80 participants, all of them committed to the business objectives and values championed by the American Chamber of Commerce.

One of the main organisers of the event was Danilo Nhantumbo, founding president of the American company Presidential Golf Day LLC and a prominent member of AmCham Mozambique. Nhantumbo, a pioneer in promoting the golf industry in Mozambique, played a crucial role as spokesperson and key partner of the event, alongside Dussult Group, co-organiser of this first edition.

The occasion was a meeting platform for business leaders, facilitating collaboration and mutual growth. Through the tournament, AmCham reaffirms its role as a facilitator of business opportunities and promoter of positive business practices in Mozambique. Participants left the event with new connections, strengthened relationships and a renewed commitment to their business objectives. It was a significant milestone in the business calendar, promising to establish itself as one of the country's main networking events in the coming years.
