On 16 May, Hotel Cardoso hosted the second edition of Néctar – Wine Culture Festival, an initiative organised by Revista Xonguila, CPC (Connoisseur – Prestige Club) and A Malta do Vinho, in partnership with INATUR and sponsored by Banco UBA.
The 2026 edition once again established Néctar as one of the main platforms for promoting wine culture, tourism, food and hospitality in Mozambique, bringing together more than 800 participants including businesspeople, diplomats, institutional representatives, professionals from the tourism, hotel and restaurant sectors, sommeliers, producers, distributors, wine lovers and the general public.
In an atmosphere marked by sharing, socialising and discovery, visitors had access to tasting stands, presentations of national and international brands, gastronomic experiences, brand activations, live music, wine cocktails, the Bubbles Zone sparkling wine area and the interactive route “From grape to toast”, created to bring the public closer to wine culture in an educational and engaging way.
The festival also featured masterclasses and knowledge sessions run by invited experts, addressing topics related to wine production, tasting techniques, pairing and wine culture. Those taking part included the Mozambican oenologist Elias Macovela, Bruno Darsam and other leading names in the sector.
As part of the Néctar project, training and awareness-raising activities were also carried out for the Ministry of Economy and for partners in the tourism, hotel, restaurant and customer service sectors, helping to enhance the service and the tourism and food experience in Mozambique.
During the event, some of the wines featured in this edition were awarded distinctions, among them The Icon White Blend, represented by Urban Cellar, Fürst von Metternich Chardonnay, by Cellier Vintage, and Doppio Passo Rosso, by Entheos. The People's Choice Award went to Zonin Prosecco ICE, represented by Avant Garde Wines.
For its part, the organisation of Néctar 2026 received a certificate of recognition from Mozambique's Ministry of Economy, which highlighted the festival as a relevant platform in energising tourism, food and hospitality in the country.
Among the brands, distributors and companies present were names such as Socimpex, Entheos, Midway, Urban Cellar, Mega Distribuição, Heineken, Pinta Negra, MIT Wine, Tropigalia, Avant Garde Wines, Wine Lovers and Cellier Vintage, among other references in the sector.
With the growth recorded in this second edition, the organisers consider that Néctar has reinforced its position as one of the main wine and food experiences in Mozambique. Preparations for the 2027 edition are already under way and should bring new experiences, more brands and new components, in a continued commitment to raising the quality and scale of the festival.
