At the latest United Nations meeting, Mozambique, through its Representative, took a firm and determined stand for an end to conflicts in Africa. This position was taken at the opening of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the prevention and resolution of conflicts in Africa, a body chaired by Mozambique.
The Mozambican Representative highlighted the urgency of putting an end to the cycle of conflicts afflicting a number of African nations, stressing that this is an essential condition for accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. The fight against underdevelopment, still prevalent in many African countries, was likewise emphasised as a critical point to be addressed.
At this meeting, which was attended by more than 20 speakers, Mozambique was singled out as an example of success in implementing development policies aimed at resolving conflicts. This case serves as an inspiration and a model for other nations facing similar challenges.
The speeches given during the meeting converged on the need to promote effective development policies, which not only prevent new conflicts from arising but also contribute to resolving existing ones. This approach is seen as fundamental to guaranteeing stability and sustainable progress across the African continent.
Mozambique's stance, taken on this international platform, reflects the country's commitment to leading and encouraging joint efforts to build a more peaceful and prosperous future in Africa. This is a significant step towards a conflict-free continent, where sustainable development can be a reality accessible to all its inhabitants.
