Millennium bim and Camões – Portuguese Cultural Centre presented to the public the exhibition “A Dança das Sombras” (“The Dance of Shadows”), by the visual artist known as Butcheca, one of the leading names on Mozambique's contemporary art scene.

Supporting culture is one of Millennium bim's areas of intervention, through its social responsibility programme “Mais Moçambique pra Mim”. In this context, the Bank has supported countless artistic initiatives taking place from north to south of the country, contributing to the dissemination and protection of Mozambique's historical and cultural legacy.

Supporting culture is one of Millennium bim's areas of intervention, through its social responsibility programme “Mais Moçambique pra Mim”.

“A Dança das Sombras” is a surprising public solo presentation by Butcheca of a set of recent works. In the project, conceived for the “Camões” space, the artist presents works inspired by movement, dance, rituals, masks, identities and cultures that are marked by diversity and, at the same time, by a common and unique thread.

"Promoting national arts and supporting the development of Mozambican culture is one of the pillars of action of Millennium bim's social responsibility programme. In this sense, we are pleased to support Butcheca's exhibition, which seeks to celebrate the values of our society, represented in works that carry all of the artist's technical and creative vigour, without neglecting the celebration of expressions, feelings and sensations," declared José Reino da Costa, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Millennium bim.

The project “A Dança das Sombras” forms part of the 3rd edition of the Gala Gala Festival, an initiative that brings together, in the same week (12 to 18 September), the programming of various cultural venues in the city of Maputo. By supporting the exhibition, Millennium bim reinforces its commitment to actively contributing to the promotion of Mozambican culture, favouring various initiatives to publicise heritage and artistic interdisciplinarity, as well as supporting various cultural projects by bodies that are a reference on the national cultural scene.
