HEINEKEN Mozambique, with the Txilar brand, launched the innovative “TXIL” campaign, offering consumers a unique opportunity to transform their lives with an enticing prize of 250,000 meticais, simply by finding a winning bottle cap. The campaign, which ran from 14 June to 9 September, proved to be an opportunity for change as well as a source of inspiration in a challenging economic climate. As well as promoting the quality of its products, HEINEKEN reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and valuing local communities.

Among the various prizewinning consumers, the testimonies of Télia Manuel Mucandze, from Matola, and Carlos Ricardo Ernesto, from the Mahotas neighbourhood in Maputo, clearly illustrate the profound impact this prize has had on their lives and on their communities.

Télia Manuel Mucandze, a self-employed worker, saw her life transformed by the Txilar prize. The money she received gave her a financial stability that allowed her to support her family in times of need, something she had always wanted but never had the means to achieve. “This prize changed my life,” she confides, visibly moved. With that sum, she bought a plot of land for her children and strengthened her own business. For Télia, the prize had enormous significance, as it was the key to securing a better future for her family. “I was also able to support my siblings, who were going through difficulties,” she says, showing how the impact extended to everyone around her. With plans to build her own house, Télia sees the prize as the start of the realisation of bigger dreams and leaves a message of hope for those waiting for a similar opportunity: “Never lose hope. Today it was my turn, tomorrow it will be yours.”

Carlos Ricardo Ernesto, who lives in the Mahotas neighbourhood in Maputo, also experienced a significant change in his life as one of the winners. “I felt fulfilled,” he recalls, stressing that the money he won arrived at a crucial moment for him and his family. Thanks to the prize, Carlos was able to meet basic needs, providing a better standard of living for his children. He discovered he was the winner while enjoying his favourite Txilar at a local establishment, during the campaign launch by the brand’s staff. It was an unexpected surprise that brought new hope for the future. With an entrepreneurial spirit, Carlos drew up plans to open a shop, where he intends to sell Txilar products and other consumer goods, thus securing a sustainable source of income. For his family, the prize symbolises a positive change, representing not only an improvement in quality of life but also an opportunity to build a better future. His community also sees the prize as a sign that, even when least expected, dreams can be achieved. For Carlos, what is needed is patience and, above all, knowing how to value the prize when it comes, turning it into positive and lasting changes in one’s life.

The “TXIL” competition was not a transformative experience only for Télia and Carlos. Other winners also saw their dreams take shape thanks to this initiative. Each in their own way had an impact on their families and communities, making the competition a genuine lever for social transformation.

Stories like these show that, with determination and the right opportunity, it is possible to change lives. Against a backdrop of economic challenges, this HEINEKEN Mozambique campaign has proved that luck can be the starting point for building a better future, and that an opportunity can make the difference between dreaming and achieving.
