In Mozambique, hip-hop has been steadily establishing its presence, with local artists emerging and captivating audiences with their incisive rhymes and hypnotic beats. In this landscape, the rapper Kloro stands out; as well as being one of the most prominent voices on the Mozambican hip-hop scene, he is the creator of a unique and innovative concept that has attracted the attention of young people and music enthusiasts.
“Cenas à tarde animam” (roughly, “Afternoon happenings liven things up”) is the title of this concept, which encompasses open-air events held on Maputo afternoons, bringing together hip-hop artists and other musical expressions in a relaxed and festive atmosphere. The intention is to establish a platform for cultural promotion, with particular emphasis on the performing arts, gastronomy, education and citizenship, providing afternoons full of entertainment.
Since their conception, these “afternoon happenings” have attracted a growing number of followers and admirers, who not only enjoy high-quality music in all its diversity but also have the opportunity to discover the architectural heritage of our cities through creative approaches. Also notable is their ability to bring different audiences together around music and culture in general, exemplifying how music can be an agent of change and social inclusion by fostering values such as tolerance, diversity and solidarity.
“Cenas à tarde animam” has energised the Mozambican music scene, and deserves to be valued and supported by all those who believe in the power of music and culture as instruments of social transformation. Congratulations to Kloro and to all the artists who have contributed to these events, continuing to enrich Mozambican afternoons with their vibrant and energetic music!
