In the fourth edition of the “Doa Sangue, Partilha Vida” (Donate Blood, Share Life) campaign, Access Bank Mozambique reaffirmed its commitment to social responsibility, promoting one of the most impactful blood collection drives held in the country. This initiative, carried out in partnership with the National Blood Service (SENASA) and held from 11 to 14 June, covered several provinces, including the cities of Maputo, Beira, Chimoio, Tete, Nacala and Nampula.
Since 2020, Access Bank has been a pillar in raising community awareness of the importance of blood donation, a practice that saves lives and strengthens social solidarity. This year, the campaign managed to collect more than 500 bags of blood, surpassing previous editions and reaching a notable milestone by being able to impact more than 2,000 lives.
Marco Abalroado, Managing Director of Access Bank Mozambique, stressed the significance of this action: “We are extremely proud and grateful for the incredible participation of our employees and the community at large. This action reinforces our commitment to social responsibility and demonstrates the power of solidarity when we unite for a noble cause.” Abalroado also stressed that blood donation is an essential act of solidarity that goes beyond the boundaries of health, strengthening the social fabric of the communities where the bank operates.
Besides the blood collection, the campaign included awareness-raising talks on the importance of donating blood regularly. These educational activities were key to increasing participation by the bank’s employees, customers and community members. The positive response and the high number of donations reflect the success of the campaign and the altruistic spirit of the participants.
SENASA officials emphasised the importance of the partnership with Access Bank, acknowledging that this collaboration was vital to the success of the campaign. The donations collected will boost blood stocks in hospitals and health centres, ensuring that hospital units have sufficient resources to meet emerging needs.
Known for its innovative actions and commitment to social responsibility, Access Bank Mozambique continues to promote initiatives that benefit the well-being and development of Mozambican communities. The “Doa Sangue, Partilha Vida” campaign exemplifies the positive impact the bank can have on people’s lives, showing that its role goes beyond providing financial services.
This year, the “Doa Sangue, Partilha Vida” campaign not only broke records but also reinforced the network of support and solidarity that is essential to collective well-being. The fourth edition established itself as a landmark success, with Access Bank Mozambique and SENASA working together to save lives and build a healthier, more caring future for all.
“This blood donation campaign in Tete was an inspiring experience of unity and solidarity, in which the local community came together with a strong sense of collective responsibility. The dedication and enthusiasm of the DPS staff, from the organisation through to the collection, together with the warm welcome from the health professionals, ensured a safe and effective process. Seeing the first blood donors, eager to help, was particularly moving. The massive support from the community resulted in an impressive amount of blood collected, exceeding all expectations and bringing hope to many in need. Without doubt, it was the best campaign I have ever witnessed at Access Bank, a true testament to the power of unity and human generosity.” - Sérgio Arroz, Manager of the Access Bank Tete Branch
