In an initiative that reflects vision, responsibility and commitment to the future, Banco Comercial e de Investimentos (BCI), in partnership with the Sir Motors Group, launched on 26 June, in its Auditorium in Maputo, the programme “Metrobus: Daqui Pr’aqui”. It is an innovative project that combines sustainable mobility, education and social inclusion, with the aim of providing transformative experiences for school-age children.
Using 100% electric buses, the programme guarantees regular transport for children between the province and the city of Maputo, providing visits to leading institutions and public spaces. More than a simple journey, it is a voyage of discovery, which broadens the children's cultural repertoire, stimulates critical thinking and awakens new possibilities for the future.
During the launch ceremony, the Chairman of BCI's Executive Committee, Francisco Costa, highlighted the project's alignment with the Bank's strategic pillars: “This is the kind of project that BCI wants to support and in which it makes complete sense to be involved. We have a new Sustainability Department at the Bank, and this initiative fits its mission perfectly. It brings together two dimensions that are essential to us: social responsibility and environmental sustainability.”
And he concluded emphatically: “with this initiative, we add an innovative component: the use of electric buses, which represents not only an unprecedented experience for these children, but also a concrete step towards greener mobility”.
“Metrobus: Daqui Pr’aqui” is a project that combines sustainable mobility, education and social inclusion.
For his part, the Chairman of the Sir Motors Group, Amade Camal, shared an inspiring message, alluding to the power of dreaming as an engine of development: “the first step towards growth and development is this: dreaming. For that, it is essential to know, to study and to learn how to learn. Only after we know what inspires us can we discover what we really like and, from that, the true dream is born, the one worth fighting for.” And he added: “this project aims precisely at that: giving children opportunities to dream”.
The event was attended by representatives of the Municipalities of Maputo and Matola, BCI employees, members of the Sir Motors Group and dozens of pupils from the 16 de Junho Primary School, whose curiosity and enthusiasm were the best expression of the spirit of the initiative.
With the programme “Metrobus: Daqui Pr’aqui”, BCI reaffirms its commitment to more inclusive and sustainable development, promoting solutions that bring geographies and realities closer together, broaden horizons and build bridges to a more conscious, green and equitable tomorrow.
It is at this crossroads of innovation, responsibility and education that the foundations of a future in the service of all are built.
