Anykey, in collaboration with IBM/MIBB, brought together 40 professionals and decision-makers from various economic sectors at the Southern Sun Hotel in Maputo to present solutions in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and technological modernisation, with a focus on improving the efficiency and competitiveness of Mozambican organisations.

Under the theme “Driving the Next Era of Artificial Intelligence”, Anykey hosted an event dedicated to the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation. The initiative brought together executives, information technology specialists and professionals from the banking, microfinance, telecommunications and insurance sectors. The main objective was to provide participants with valuable insights into IBM's technological solutions available in the Mozambican market, helping organisations identify opportunities to modernise, optimise their systems and reduce costs. Technology at the service of businesses

The programme featured three presentations by industry experts. Frank Ketelaars, Distinguished Engineer for IBM Data Platform, EMEA, discussed artificial intelligence operating models and the importance of integrating AI across different areas of an organisation. Osman Omer, MEA IBM i Solution Architect and Practice Leader, presented the capabilities of the IBM Power11 platform, highlighting cybersecurity, cyber resilience and new artificial intelligence features, as well as aspects of quantum computing. Christopher Osiegbu, IBM/MIBB Infrastructure Leader for Central Africa, showcased innovations in IBM FlashSystem technology, emphasising benefits in data storage, virtualisation, performance, cost reduction and AI-powered threat detection. Beyond the technological presentations, the event provided an opportunity for face-to-face interaction between professionals from different sectors, encouraging the exchange of experiences and discussion of shared challenges. The practical approach to the presentations, tailored to the African context, was also highlighted as one of the initiative's most valuable aspects.

A gradual and strategic transformation

One of the event's key messages was the importance of adopting technology in a considered and progressive manner. According to Anykey, digital transformation does not necessarily require a complete replacement of existing systems. Instead, it can be achieved through targeted improvements that enhance efficiency and prepare businesses for emerging challenges. In this context, the initiative also aimed to encourage organisations to continuously assess their technological infrastructure and align investments in innovation with their strategic objectives, ensuring greater security, improved performance and increased capacity for growth. The event concluded with a networking session overlooking the waterfront, giving participants an opportunity to exchange experiences and explore the topics presented in greater depth. Anykey described the initiative as a success, highlighting the level of audience engagement and the relevance of the content to the Mozambican market. Looking ahead, the company plans to follow up individually with participants and develop further initiatives, including workshops, technology demonstrations and proofs of concept tailored to the needs of organisations.
