In September, Baía Mall was transformed into a stage for colours, fabrics and styles, marking a notable moment in the world of fashion. The 2nd edition of the Moda Baía event not only met expectations but exceeded them, blending styles, cultures and art in a unified celebration that reflected the beauty and diversity of the Mozambican nation.
First Act: Welcome and Elegance
On the first day, the stage was meticulously prepared, with marketing manager Lisié Champier welcoming guests in an authentic way, offering them roses carefully crafted by Isabel Tembe and linking them to the floral decoration inspired by the spring-summer collections. The entertainment resonated in the melodious voices of Dama do Bling and Nelson Nhachungue, while prominent brands, such as Fashion World and the designer Omar Adelino, presented their creations in a show where art and expressiveness merged.
Second Act: Culture and Art in the Spotlight
The second day unfolded with a variety of possibilities, where designers and brands such as Areia Branca, Uzuri and Atija wove their art on the catwalk, revealing national enthusiasm and talent. A cultural approach to fashion was evident, with Innova Studio providing a mixed spectacle of painted art and contemporary dance, harmonising with the fashion shows. The theatricality that resonated through the hands of the group Sico na Sico and a vigorous musical note from Marlene Preta Negra also embellished the day, which was characterised by varied cultural expressions drawing a parallel between fashion, art and theatre.
Third Act: Children’s Grace and the Future of Fashion
The third day was marked by the genuine smiles and captivating gazes of the youngest, who, with a naturalness and a touch of childlike elegance, showed off pieces from shops such as Bebé Giro and Zippy. Innova Studio dedicated a specially adapted edition to the little ones, and Dama do Bling shared the stage with a mini dancer, in a choreography that warmed the hearts of those present. The children’s offering of pots of succulents and packets of seeds to their parents closed the event in a delicate way, weaving a green thread of hope and continuity into the event.
Moda Baía was a celebration of culture, art and unity, with various brands offering prizes and vouchers, a gesture that enhanced the gratitude and appreciation of participants and guests. Amid fabrics, melodies and colours, the event forged a link between the past, present and future of fashion in Mozambique, staging a consistent dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity. This was, undoubtedly, a landmark chapter in the trajectory of Mozambican fashion, which will live on in the memories of those who experienced it and will resonate in future editions of this distinguished event.
